The Beginning: The 2015 Learning NetworkPH Conference

De La Salle University is at the forefront of cutting-edge research and advocacy projects that have meaningful impact to society. Through the DLSU Challenge Grant Research Program, the Learning NetworkPH conference was launched in January 2015.

The maiden conference gathered industry leaders and best practitioners of ICT for Education to promote and encourage the use of the Internet, social media, open-source applications, computer and personal devices for teaching and learning, which cater to the 21st-century reality and characteristics of learners. The theme was "Learning Network and the K-12 Education in the Philippines." The conference in 2015 through the support of DLSU Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research & Innovation, Google for Education, Power Mac, and Acer made it possible to gather 150 public and private school teachers in the Philippines. It was also the first time in DLSU to organize a 100% paperless conference in support of our institution’s campaign for a sustainable environment.

The Learning NetworkPH promotes education for all by providing reliable e-learning materials, safe and learner-friendly sites, and open-source education technology platforms for learning and teaching. It is our vision to harness information, ideas, and knowledge through crowdsourcing, open sharing, and collaboration to reach all types of learners regardless of age, culture, faith, gender, and social status via the internet. From a social network and Web2.0 paradigm, we boldly claim to initiate and to usher in a new revolution towards transforming cyberspace as a learning network.

The Learning Network PH Challenge Grant Research Group was composed of the following faculty members:

Mr. Jose Marie Carpena was the technical director while Ms. Susan Grace Neri was the program coordinator during the first conference.

The Learning NetworkPH 2017 Conference

The second conference was held in DLSU Manila to move further towards that vision of education for all. New exciting projects that had been started by the team were launched during the conference. The Senior High School Learning Portal for Filipino, English, Math, Science & Social Studies, or WeLearnPH.com was inaugurated during the conference. The theme that year was "Networked Learning: ICT for Education in the Philippines and Asia." A total of 180 participants warmly attended the conference.

Dr. Hitoshi Mitomo, Professor at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University, Japan, was the Keynote Speaker who talked about the trends and challenges of ICT in education and development in Japan. The Challenge Grant Research Team supervised the 2017 conference while the Ph.D. students of Dr. Nuncio managed and organized the preparation and actual event. Mr. Henry Magahis, DLSU Ph.D. student & faculty member of De La Salle Santiago Zobel School was the Conference Director. Below were the members of his steering committee:

The Founding of NLPH Inc.

The Networked Learning PH Inc. (NLPH, Inc.) was conceived and organized by its founder, Dr. Rhoderick V. Nuncio, on September 29, 2018, together with founding members Henry Leen A. Magahis, Maria Fe C. Balaba, Jeffrey R. Ancheta, Everlinda U. Aleta, Evelyn M. Varron, and Paoulina Dawn Basco. Dr. Nelson Joseph C Fabre and Gaudencio Luis N. Serrano, though absent during the meeting, have been original working members of LNPH conference project since 2017.

Enamored by their passion and commitment to pursue teaching, research, and advocacy towards ICT for Education and Development (ICT4ED) in the Philippines, the founding members pledged to continue and sustain what they have started before, that is to promote learning networks in the Philippines. On that meeting held at DLSU Laguna Campus, the founding members laid down the strategic plans and goals in the years to come.

To be the leading professional organization of learners, educators, scholars, and researchers using ICT for Education and Development in the Philippines and Asia-Pacific.

MISSION

To train and equip teachers in using learner-centric technology-aided pedagogies in line with the 21st-century education;
To motivate and guide learners to be responsible and ethical netizens;
To complement the implementation of the Kto12 curriculum and the higher education new curriculum with the latest, state-of-the-art open blended learning environment and innovative e-learning technologies;
To propose creative solutions using the Internet leading to a roadmap towards Philippine ICT for Education and Development; and
To provide an avenue for research presentation and intellectual discussions regarding best practices, trends, debates, and issues on ICT for Education and Development.
